A Dive into the Battle Stadium Singles meta and why pokemon are good.

Hi im Lily or Volcaronavgc and this is a resource thread and a inside look into the BSS meta, Its features mostly public information though my own writeups. I hope you enjoy the spreads i put randomly in brackets and the thread.

Garchomp

Item options i recommend are Scarf, Sash, Sitrus, No item to beat poltergiest pokemon like Aegislash and Ceruledge with swords dance into eq or scale on ceru to get around the weak armor FS. (Evs Included if i feel like it)

Choice Scarf

(Likely best in the format last season)

Earthquake,Outrage/Scale Shot (mostly outrage but can run both) & Rock Tomb is v Good to beat pokemon like M-Zard Y (outrage kos after some chip on none bulky (They go no bulk due to no reason to have it)

The last move is a flex slot. You can go Stealth rocks, Fire Fang (for mega scizor) or poison jab for mega Meganium (Probably not worth it.)

Focus Sash

Straight Forward as can be. The moves are pm 4 of anything in the top options. i recommend keeping eq + dragon move & maybe rocks if u dont have a rocker.

Sitrus Berry

This Set is Pgood you can run fast offensive or Slow bulky Spikes + Stealth Rocks (This set can also run leftovers if Spikes + Stealth rocks Dtail + EQ) (Evs For Spikes + SR 32/0/14/0-/19/1+)

White herb

With scale shot this could be worth testing.

No Item (The Anti Poltergiest Pokemon set) (Ceruledge + Aegislash

(2/29+/3/0-/0/32) Spread lives Mamoswine adamant ice shard always and vs Aegislash/Ceruledge You win by clicking Sd into Eq vs Aegislash and vs Ceruledge sd into Scale shot unless sash is broken.

Archaludon

Archaludon is a jack of all trades. This pokemon has aton of sets and is vflexible for your team. (prepare for a long yap.)

Sitrus berry

(Roar + Stealth rocks dtail (Also works on leftovers) Faster sets (Eving to live basc max last respects 3 times with stamina boosts is also nice (150bp) P Bulky mon overall.

Leftovers

as above mentions with the Rocks + Dtail set also offensive stuff with the ability to live 2 last respects after leftys. (You can ev this set abunch of ways and run abunch of dif moves.) (this specific spread is for foul play + Sub - (32/0-/7/15+/0/12).

Scope Lens

Focus energy + Scope lens for crits, Tbolt for corv + Water bulky mons. (Gyarados,Prim Etc)

Sturdy Arch Is good on the max max set. (32/0-/0/26+/0/8 is a bulkier option if u want bulk on the scope lens and then it can afford to be stamina.)

White Herb

Max Max for this one usually. Timid or modest typically runs timid for opposing Archaludon. Draco Srocks r pstandard on these sets. Mirror coat is also a option ive seen though for M Floette and other options. (Buffed volcarona.) (sturdy must be in tact typically for mirror coat plays.) (Also seen steel beam for floette too)

Choice Scarf

Self explanitory here. Offensive can run rocks but typically wont. This set is rare but definitly good. (I like this set on rain specifically due to eshot plays paired with u turn sash/sitrus peli and M-Starmie.)

Meowscarada

Focus Sash

Same as below though sucker punch adds into your flex slot options.

Choice Scarf

Max Max Triple Axel, Flower trick, U Turn tend to be mainstays Though axel can be Play Rough if u really want. Protean is a insane ability, Low kick is decent to snipe off kingambit but kingambit is rare. Knock off as final option for good stab and anti skeledirge + M-Gengar.

Primarina

Sitrus/Leftovers

Sitrus berry takes advantage of alot more than leftovers. You have counterplay against poltergiest users & Can eat 2 hits from full of chomp Eq Jolly. (Possibly adamant depends on spread likely.) Good anti M-Kang too Or Cm into Dkiss Vs Archaludon that arent running scope lens + FEnergy tbolt/Eshot in rain) Calm mind prim can also 1v1 alot of special attackers with sitrus that it typically cannot via leftovers.) (Leftovers has its niches though i def recommend the sitrus option.) Psychic noise/Sparkling aria is typically your water move if cm Psy noise + Dkiss is a good option. Aria is vgood on encore primarina with Mb + Jet to snipe sash chomp/ Other options.

Lum Berry/Kebia Berry

This set is for if u despise sneasler since u try and run Psychic + Kebia to always live dclaw but you risk the status. Or you run lum berry 32/0/32/2+/0/0 as pure hatred towards it. This set also runs ice beam to counter Garchomp/Mega Dragonite.

Choice Scarf

This set is self explanitory. Its more garchomp hatred, This set is not common atall but i think its got a good niche.

Charizard

Charizard Y

This pokemon is busted. Its simply not fair so much so that the meta is built to literally counter it. It forces M-Lucario to run a rock move It forces garchomps to go jolly making it possible to ev to live rock tomb. It forces alot of things. It can run bulky + Roost as a rarer option to pressure pokemon that are slow. It can go offensive which is standard with flame charge as an option. Its fire move options are weather ball in sun Flamethrower and Overheat. Air slash/Solarbeam options too are super strong. (This Mon is Broken)

Charizard x

Zard x Got the short end of the stick. Its a Likely worse M-Gyarados due to not having ice fang mold breaker and eq options that are as strong. Its Got a nice dragon typing though which means it doesnt need a dragon dance to do stuff however gyarados gets that dragon dance more often that not. (Id personally run a different dragon type then bring M-Gyara if i chose but this could have a niche.)

Corviknight

Sitrus/Leftovers

This Pokemon is interesting. (32/11/23+/0-/0/0) as a more offensive spread for lefties. (32/0/26+/0-/8/0 is a more bulkier spread with sitrus) Theres alot of spreads u can run on corvi though those are just 2 ive used. Neither are iron def bpress though idef bpress is a very good set on corv. You can run payback as anti aegislash. U turn roost seems v good on corv as counterplay to Switch games paired with another pivoter (U-turn meow or Flip turn Basculegion for example). Corv can slot into most teams pwell overall.

Basculegion (Bubble Bass)

Choice Scarf/Focus Sash

This pokemon is pstuck in terms of moves. You ig could slot ice fang For Garchomp/Dnite or a Head smash to ko Zardy in sun T1)

Arcanine Hisui

Choice Scarf/Focus Sash

This pokemon Mostly prefers Scarf but can run sash/sitrus To beat Yard/Some other pokemon that u wish to counter. Head smash + Ability to not take recoil is vstrong also. (this pokemon is mostly a one trick pony though.

Sneasler

(Ngl this section i could yap 1 hour so i am going to save us all the time by sticking to the main 4 options)

Choice Scarf

Choice scarf sneasler is pstraight forward. U run Direclaw/Gunk Shot as a poison move and close combat. U can run Throat chop, U turn, Rock tomb or switcheroo in finally 2 slots.

Sitrus Berry

This set is Mostly trying to tank hits and get unburden + Swords dance up. You can also fish status or other things via this. You ev to live Floette-Mega Moonblast though some run psychic so likely dont rely on it.

Focus Sash

This set is interesting though similar to standard so run 3atk + Sd if u wish or just run Normal 4atks. (fakeout included in options.)

White Herb

White herb is similar story to sitrus except you just require clicking a close combat to get ahead. Though id mostly run 4atks on this (U-turn is a option ig fire punch for scizor though not recommended.) and fakeout could be pgood overall.

Mamoswine

Focus Sash/Choice Scarf

this pokemon usually would just run sash ngl. The set is super straight forward nothing too special. a good stealth rocker that just beats most things out. i wouldnt recommend scarf but its a super niche option with icicle spear for sash pokemon.

Glimmora

I hate this thing. Its weak to alot but holy is it annoying to deal with

Mega Glimmora

This pokemons interesting. its speed stat is in a middle range of Is it good or is it not good. Its pfast and has adaptability and earth power can threaten top tier mons like Archaludon. (Its pgood though unsure how much usage it will see) Good m-Floette answer.

Focus Sash Glimmora

Standard sash rocker. Can run mudshot or earth power up to you.

The cursed Leftovers Toxic Corrosion Glimmora.

I despise this thing... Its way too tanky and requires you to identify it in team preview often times than not. It 1v1s abunch of mons and is really good however. This thing can counter alot and is vstrong.

Floette-Eternal/Mega

Mega Bulky Charm + Cm Synth

(32/0-/13/0/1/20+) This set is disgusting and 1v1s pokemon like aegislash..... Its just honestly unfun to go against though semi easy to beat. (run only if u know sequencing)

The Cursed Choice Scarf Set.

This set is cursed. Scarf psychic to pick up sneasler/Chip glimmora alot. outspeeds sash chomp though this set is untested for most part and probably better in doubles. lor is a nuke button though even without fairy aura.

Max Max 3Atk Cm

Fairy aura Lor + Moonblast with psychic to snipe Glimmoras for alot of damage or OHKO sneasler. Calm mind for spatk boosts. a menace though meta goes to counter it.

This Set can also run bulky (32/0-/26/5+/0/3)

Hippowdon

Sitrus Berry/Leftovers

I hate it and love it at the same time. Hippowdon can run leftovers/Sitrus berry it has options like stealth rocks and yawn to its disposal aswell as whirlwind to get around substitute mons and unlike garchomp/Archaludon it doesn't have to worry about the inaccuracy of dragon tail.

It also sets up sandstorm which is really nice overall. Slack off as a recovery option and possibly can run rock tomb as a extra charizard counterplay.

Mimikyu

Spell Tag/Lum Berry/Scope lens/Bright powder

This pokemon is pstraight forward. Its support options r pgood (Mainly will-o-wisp) it doesn't run wisp often though. Swords dance/Shadow Claw/Play Rough/ Shadow Sneak is the main set it runs. I think this sets correct with its high crit rate sc's threatening ohkos onto even bulky mons like Empoleon after a Swords dance. Disguise makes one hit irrelivant. You can ev for lop-M triple axel after fakeout breaking disguise. Drain punch to heal off kingambit though doesn't ko but is a option. Wood hammer is ig a option too but often times you dont want it as u can beat prim anyway with sclaw sclaw after sd.

Lopunny-Mega

This pokemon has afew sets. 4atks. (standard set of its fakeout u turn cc +axel) it can run mega kick + encore. it can also run fake out into giga impact to ko even bulky floette. Its options are alot and can be built to beat alot of the meta, can also slot swords dance if needed.

Lucario

Mega Lucario

This is the most common set of lucario. It runs 4 atks with options to switch the moves around alot. It can also slot Swords dance. Crunch is a option though i dont recommend it. Special attacking side is also vstrong to snipe some mons. Rock move for yard. This pokemons v strong. (Note: Meteor mash can also boost atk sometimes.)

Focus Sash

This set is not going to be common atall nor do i recommend it. however sash + steel beam is fucking hilarious.

Dragonite

Mega-Dragonite

Offensive

This is 4 atks and u can slot espeed if u wanna ko something low before it gets another atk off (Sash chomp mainly)

Defensive

This set is evil and i love it (31/0-/1/15+/1/18) This set takes advantage of Substitute + Roost and Multiscale to beat alot of the top meta threats. You lose notably to triple axel pokemon and such + still die to starmie ice spinner from mega. however its a good pokemon none the less. Air slash as a move then flex slot.

Lum Berry

This set is standard and physical. (Dragon dance dnite you see in ou alot)

Starmie

Choice Scarf

This pokemon is interesting but rare. Its scarf with tbolt + ice beam and you can snipe alot. You also can have abit of bulk after creeping Chomp Scarf. (recommended for specific teams) mostly seen on stall.

Mega Starmie

This pokemons v strong. It can run on rain, Outside of rain its still a monster. You can even go naive nature and run mixed atking Starmie to beat idef corv. This pokemons evil tbh. Bulk up is also a option 😭.

Gengar

Gengar Mega

This pokemon is insanely flexible. It can go hex + Hypnosis or tspikes from mGlim. It can run Will-o-wisp for the hex stuff too. Shadow tag is a busted ability allowing to trap pokemon and 1v1 them as it wants. it gets substitute options it can run perish song and protect to counter stall pokemon such as Crit me not mons. (Mainly M-Slowbro) Who with shell armor iron def + amnesia can be a real pain to remove. it also has bpress which makes m-gengar the perfect counter. it also runs destiny bond which can be annoying on perish sets.

Sash Gengar

The less common of the two and not recommended however this could be interesting. worth testing in specific scenarios.

Umbreon

Leftovers

This pokemon aims to widdle u down. Yawn on teams with stealth rocks + wish & leftovers recovery. It can run toxic too if yawn doesnt fit the team as much with protect. if you try to Sd infront of umbreon it gets foul play to immediately punish that too.

Skeledirge

Leftovers/Sitrus

This pokemon is pgood however it loses 1v1 to alot of the pokemon its supposed to beat. It gets will-o-wisp and unaware slack off recovery. Torch song as a signature move to get +1 spatk every time you attack. Its niche but can work in specific teams.

Kangaskhan

Mega Kangaskhan

This pokemon is flexible in move pool. it typically carries ice punch Fake out double edge and a flex slot (Earthquake usually, Fire Punch, Low kick, Sucker punch,Crunch) You can also drop fakeout for a secondary flex slot.

Silk Scarf

Not good but worth mentioning fakeout + last resort Kang being a vrare but doable set.

Ceruledge

Focus Sash

This set typically just runs bitter blade polter sneak and sd with weak armor, Not much to talk about here.

Empoleon

Shuca Berry

This pokemon is quite a force. It can run 4atks and has a flex (Surf/Ice Beam/Vacuum Wave) Its flex's Usually include (Grass Knot/Flash Cannon/Stealth Rocks) usually grass knot so u can hit M-Blastoise/Prim/M-Starmie. However u Like flash cannon to threaten Floette-Eternal.

You in theory could drop surf for Both grass knot and flash cannon.

Leftovers

This set can run roost. It has pgood flex moves aswell gets stealth rocks & is quite a tanky mon. Flip turn for pivoting

Samurott-Hisui

Choice scarf

Ceasless edge button v strong sharpness 4atks + Pivoting in flip turn. Sacred sword is v good too.

Focus Sash

Click Ceasless Edge Button ngl... Though gets some fun options like encore. Gets flip turn pivoting etc

Gyarados

Mega-Gyara

This pokemon has interesting options. Its mostly going to be a dragon dance user taking advantage of mold breaker. its move slots are pgood. Ice fang with mold breaker helps pickup M-Dnite, Crunch is a option for good stab aswell as waterfall, And Earthquake mold breaker is pgood. Mimikyu cant even stop it setup due to mold breaker ignoring disguise.

Toxapex

Leftovers

This set can run alot of options though is mostly going to be toxic stalling. Its options spread out alot, Infestation + toxic, Stockpile + recover crit me not...... The cursed bulk + ice beam nuke of chomp. haze is ran to stop setup on none stockpile usually.

No item

This beats poltergiest pokemon. It can run payback to 1v1 aegislash is the main goal of this set.

Also should 1v1 ceru though.

Aegislash

I recommend shadow claw over polt in some cases though not all.

Leftovers

The goal of this set is to be annoying. You live for long and u do big damage aswell. though no item pokemon beat you so i prefer special attacking. its on preference though.

Spell Tag

This set should run special imo mostly. Its vstrong however u kinda suck into Alot so maybe phys is better with shadow claw over polt just for more consistency.

Focus Sash

This is just standard.

Scizor

Mega-Scizor

Swords Dance is vstrong on mega scizor. Close combat Knock off and Bullet punch threaten alot. You can run roost too and go U-Turn which has good pivoting pressure. Can also run dual wingbeat as a rare option

Sitrus Berry

Sitrus + Swords dance is pgood Though this set is ehhhhh probably worse than mega.

Volcarona

Sitrus Berry

Morning sun + quiver dance is evil... You can run will-o-wisp though u want stealth rocks to activate your sitrus so ev for that via a Even hp number (Odd is optimal and will set u to 51% not activating your berry which would be worse for you.) Giga drain/Bug buzz & fiery dance.

You like to ev for rock tomb from jolly chomp too.

Hydreigon

Choice Scarf

This set is v strong being able to outspeed alot of mons. Hydreigon gets U-Turn

Sitrus Berry/Leftovers

Substitute Is Vfun on this thing tho i recommend leftovers more.

Focus Sash

This could be interesting. Thunder wave + Stealth rocks is a strong combo into the meta.

Rotom-Wash

Sitrus Berry

This pokemon is vbulky. It gets willo to pressure alot with a better typing than Rotom-Heat into the meta imo. It can run Hydro to chip alot of things well it gets volt switch and is vstrong overall.

Rotom-Heat

Sitrus Berry

Same as rotom wash but with overheat mostly. It also gets foul play as a good option due to rotom heat lacking for ways to hit chomp.

Choice scarf

Good pressure into alot but folds to chomp.

Bellibolt

Leftovers/Sitrus

Soak + Parabolic charge is v strong as a combo. It can also run toxic to put something in trouble and gets slack off.

Shuca berry

Not great overall however i think it has a niche.

Greninja

Mega-Greninja

This pokemons a threat though awfully frail. Its movepool is good and it can run physical or special.

Choice Scarf

Like Meow Greninja gets protean so its pstrong though if i choose one or the other id pick scarf meow.

Delphox

Mega-Delphox

It gets encore as a good counteractive measure to setup. it has will-o-wisp or sub as options to get around priority and a good movepool to run 4atks.

Kingambit

Black Glasses

Its gonna run 4atk or 3atk + swords dance mostly. i think personally this is the better of the two items.

Focus Sash

This set can run stealth rocks it can run sd it can run 4atk it can run guillotine even... kingambit is interesting.

Venusaur

Mega-Venusaur

Leech seed is evil.... Its gonna tank hits with thick fat and heal it all the way up. it gets synth as recovery too and is overall annoying to remove. Earth power can threaten pokemon too. its a interesting mon and quite splashable though alot of mega slots want its spot.

Slowbro

Mega-Slowbro, The evil side of BSS

Iron defense + amnesia with Shell armor is fucking evil.... this thing gets Body press and can fish for burns with scald. It can also run psychic over scald but then u lose to Sableye 1v1

No item

Anti Poltergiest and gets alot of options.

Slowking-Galar

Shuca Berry

This is good anti Garchomp tho not recommended.

Leftovers/Sitrus Berry

Calm mind is a good option Ice beam/Flamethrower, Slack off for recovery, Chilly reception & Regenerator is good combo, Trick room for a slow team.

No Item/Kasib Berry

Sableye

Mega-Sableye

This pokemon is fun though u much prefer to delay mega. You run Calm mind + Will-o u have encore you have recover dark pulse/hex theres alot of ways you can run it.

Blastoise

Mega-Stoise

This pokemon takes advantage of shell smash. Its been recently pivoting to 3atks + aqua jet support. Mega launcher is vgood aura sphere, Dark pulse, Water spout, ice beam, Water pulse are all options. its vstrong

Clefable

Mega-Clef

Magic bounce. A great ability and unaware pre mega with moonlight recovery. It gets Cosmic power which is good. It can run stealth rocks twave

Leftovers/Sitrus Berry

this is likely not getting used often. I dont recommend this over mega but if your mega slots are taken it could be interesting. unaware moonlight recovery. mostly is going to run cm 2atk moonlight.

Snorlax

Thick fat snorlax is vbulky and can eat hits from zard y for quite a long time.

Leftovers

Fucking Fissure and Yawn.... its unfun for sure to face however vgood to play but cant slot on everything. i pref chople but lefties is vgood too

Chople

Counter is a funny move to nuke a pokemon.... Ice punch exists and it gets earthquake.... unfun for sure to face but its extremely playable.

Tinkaton

Focus Sash

Focus sash is cool it gets mold breaker it has encore it has rocks twave and it has rock tomb. The sequencing vs mega zard is rock tomb then click stealth rocks if you have a good back vs it to cover for switch to save it.

Chesnaught

Iron Defense + Body Press is vkewl though just use corvi... ;cry;

Tyranitar

Mega-Tyranitar

Stealth rocks is uhm fun ig... its typing is pcool and it can beat out afew things. its a good anti M-Zardy but i recommend to just run hippowdon unless you have specific reasoning.

Espathra

Focus sash

Baton pass cm Speed boost go brrrrrrrrrr

Sitrus Berry

Bulkier but idt its as good as sash personally... same baton pass stuff

Araquanid

Sticky webs is fun..... Liquidation water bubble is also bs Endeavour is fun

Bugs bunny on drugs... This rabbit gets huge power. It can run ice punch + thunder punch to be a huge force. Eq is strong and it gets quick atk/some other normal move... its vfun.

Choice scarf

Not the fastest however this thing can hit hard and is still le goat.

Kleavor

Focus sash

Stone axe is a fun button setting stealth rocks. Sharpness being busted shows again

Gallade

Scope lens

This with sharpness has huge pressure aswell as getting some good high crit moves

Focus Sash

Same as the other items... gallade hasnt got alot to talk about

Choice Scarf

This is fun but another sharpness thing.... Night slash is huge for mons too

Ditto

Focus Sash/Choice scarf

Combining these because there is literally nthing to talk about max hp and speed then you will be fine. make sure you are imposter ditto

Banette

Mega-Banette

>.< Poltergiest is rly strong and destiny bond is just evil. you run rly slow with dbond due to prankster. it gets tr though likely wont be usable. Willo support is nice too on a prankster user.

I pref taunt on this too for M-Slowbro or Encore + Disable

Toucannon

Skill link + multihit moves is pcool and it gets Beak blast which burns pokemon that hit it physically but moves last. isnt very bulky but is a good niche pick.

Sitrus Berry

(32/0+/26/0-/0/8) Roost is typically ran as the 4th slot here knock off is pgood on this one its vflexible though

Focus Sash

Encore is a option here aswell. You ev to live triple axel from meowscarada and rest in offenses usually.

Orthworm

Earth eater is a strong ability. It gets shed tail to pass a sub though a weak spdef side it gets iron def to further improve good defense. perfect counter to Garchomp, Also gets stealth rocks.

Heliolisk

Focus sash

Faster orthworm for shed tail with screens over idef stuff. Mostly runs focus sash (walls basculegion)

Chimecho

Mega-Chimecho

This thing is literally just cm/cosmic power recover Psychic/Steel type with healing stored power.

Vanilluxe

Focus Sash

Mostly going for veil/blizzard though it gets mirror coat and is shockingly high damage.

Choice Scarf

More offensive but can carry veil

Ninetales-Alola

Focus Sash/Choice scarf

ice beam is cool but gets shelter/acid armor bpress and a good spatk support.

illusion is cool and the immunity triage is rly fun too.

Gardevoir

Choice scarf

This set is cool you can go 4atks, trick the scarf to a stall pokemon etc.

Mega-Gardevoir

Pixilate is a cool ability you can run rly fast and be a threat immediately with Calm mind, You can run Trick room and go slow clicking atks for 4 turns being a huge threat and this pokemon is relavitely healthy.

Skarmory

Mega-Skarmory

This pokemon is a nuke... It can do up to 70+% into Charizard-Y it gets rock tomb + has a amazing typing vs the metagame.
